If it still doesn't power on, the only thing you can try is to take the HDD out of its enclosure and connect it to a computer either internally (via SATA cables) or externally (via a different external enclosure, docking station, SATA to USB adapter), to see if it's powered up and if you can get to your data. I'd recommend that you try the HDD with a different power adapter and/or USB cable and a different computer if possible, to see if the same thing happens. I assume that the drive is out of warranty as you've mentioned that you've had it for 5 years, so I'm not sure if you'd be able to RMA it as metioned.
